Explore Seminar

Welcome second-year students and transfer students!

At Washington State University we recognize the diverse needs of each student as they transition from high school to college, freshman year to sophomore year, and the following years toward graduation.  In particular, there are significant transitions that students navigate through between their first and third years of college.

It is not uncommon for students to change majors several times in their first couple of years.  It is our goal to assist students who have not yet confirmed their major focus as well as helping them become connected with campus resources and faculty.

COURSE CONTENT

This seminar will introduce undecided second-year students and transfer students to the campus and academic community in an informal and interactive environment.  Students will explore various academic majors and careers through focused exploration techniques guided by an experienced graduate facilitator.  The Explore seminar will assist students in the process of forming meaningful contacts with university faculty, staff, various departments and units, and employers.  Through these interactions it is the intention of this seminar to assist students in the self-exploration process in order to better understand a "good fit" major and key resources to assist in that process.
